We used to go to the river and catch carp with our hands. During spawing season these huge carp would come in to shore and just hang there. You could walk into the water and just pick them up, I am sure that is how most of these "catches" were caught. If anyone has been to HersheyPark you can see carp this big, you know what I mean if you have been there.

Hi Everybody. I live in minnesota usa. There are many carp here in rivers and some lakes. Nobody here fishes for them. People don't like carp here. Anyway I want to catch some this season the bigger the better. What are the best techniques... habitats... baits. I have heard of people using corn...I have accidentally caught 1 or 2 on worms...... I have also heard of liver being used.

I don't think there's these types of carps in my country but they sure are HUGE! Great Catch!

I usually go for snakeheads... as they take lures :) and more common in my country Did a compilation of some of my catches as well, should be available in metacafe now, just search for "snakehead fishing"

Nice job on catching those slobs.. Im from Wisconsin and there are alot of carp here,, but not too many that big.. Im trying to get a few guys together to go to the Illinois river and bowfish some of those jumping asian carp,, now that looks fun ..

Those are some big carp. Some must be pregnant. They are a good strong fish to hook into, good fight when your using light tackle. Good training for kids to see and feel what its like to hook into a strong fish. Good pics.

I went to wetnwild theme park in federal way wa. and saw this pond where you could feed the carp there. Well there was so many carp they were climbing on top of eachother to get food from people. Theyre mouths were gaping wide open, and literally out of the water. If they saw you had food, they followed you around the pond in droves. It was really disturbing looking. Also the park guide said there was chlorine in the pond, they still thrived. Has anyone seen this too?

I'd be happy to catch fish this big, carp or not. Thing is, this guy has two hoodies, and two hats. Wonder if he ever gets the fish smell out of them?

you must eat a lot of crap...I mean CARP..

Filet the carp and fry, but- the important part is look for the dark meat on the side and cut that out- my Uncle called it the mudgut. It taints the carp meat with a bad muddy flavor. Once its out the fish is like a giant boneless piece of perch. Yummy!

Caught by hand are you crazy.In europ they are shy and not very easy to catch because the fishing pressure is high.And maybe the carp look like the people.In europ smart and in amerika ignorant and really STUPID sry to all americans who arent as stupid as gondiggn.

Are you a fisherman by trade or is it just something that you love to do? I used to live on the Big Black River in Vicksburg MS with my first husband and we used to catch CATFISH this big. The largest one that they caught when I was there was 60 lbs. I filled up the trunk in my little pinto...lol...1979. I didn't take pictures because I was young and thought that everybody knew about these fish and now years later a lot of people say that I am lying about it. So I know how you feel when ppl don't believe you.

carp are BOTTOM FEEDERS, this means they eat anything and everything, and can get huge.

im guessing the guy who did the fishing is the biggest guy either, so a 160lb person holding a 50lb carp, yea, its gonna look strange.

and if you want a truly big fish, look up the giant sunfish, mekong catfish or an oar fish. those also look fake, but are in fact real animals out there roaming the waters.
