  • Really Neat

Are you aware thate algae can produce hydrogen in bioreactors? I have been designing a low cost bioreactor, storage unit fuel cell. I think I can build it for less than $20. Instead of using NaOH as an electrolyte, I was going to use Ammonia. Thoughts?

  • We were able to ...

We were able to make a 5-cell alkaline electrolyzer that makes high purity Hydrogen(separated from Oxygen). Material cost is
about $10. Draws 10 amps from solar power.
    We have accomplished this by
casting the housing with high temperature
Polyurethane. We will attempt to do the same
to make an inexpensive alkaline fuel cell.
This will complete the system with a recyclable water by-product.

    Hi:
Very nice video, I had mostley completed
all the matereal, but when i got to plating the mesh nobody will sell hexachloroplatinate
unless you are company or a school, i was told
it is a hazardous substance and would not be able to buy it, so the whole project went in
    the trash.
    thanks

The tubes were made by cutting the ends of pipets then glueing them with aquarium cement. The blue on the bolts is shrink wrap to insulate them from the electrodes.
