I do this when I want songs from itunes to use in windows movie maker. I have Windows XP. So I don't know if this will apply to Vista and/or other. Its not just for itunes. You don't have to be making a movie. You can use this method to record any sound from your computer or from the internet. Anything you record will playable in windows media player. No CD needed. No program to download! I haven't seen this method in other tutorial vids. Although it could be there ( I haven't watched every single vid about it! ). So I decided to make my own video. I've actually used this method in 3 of my other videos. Hope it helps and that everybody enjoys it. Its set to Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music." If anyone has ideas to improve this method, feel free to let me know, and I can add an annotation to the video! BASED ON SOME COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS I'VE BEEN GETTING...... HERE ARE SOME TIPS: -FIRST OF ALL: BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS IS AN ASSET. THE VIDEO IS ABOUT IMPORTING ITUNES INTO WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER. ITS NOT ABOUT TEACHING BASIC PC SKILLS. YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO NAVIGATE YOUR OWN SYSTEM. -READ THE COMMENTS. THE ANSWER YOU'RE LOOKING FOR COULD BE THERE. -AUDIO DEVICE AND AUDIO INPUT SOURCE ARE BASED ON YOUR SOUNDCARD. -MY AUDIO DEVICE IS SOUNDMAX DIGITAL AUDIO AS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO. YOURS MAY BE DIFFERENT. SELECT THE ONE THAT YOU HAVE. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE OPTION, YOU MAY HAVE MORE THAN ONE SOUNDCARD. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO: TRY THEM ALL!!! EXPERIMENT!!! PLAY WITH IT UNTIL YOU GET ONE THAT WORKS. -DON'T HAVE WAVE OUT MIX AS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO: HERE'S A THOUGHT.......IT MAY SAY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. SUCH AS: STEREO MIX,DIGITAL MIX,WHAT U HEAR. OR MAYBE EVEN SOMETHING ELSE. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? : TRY THEM ALL!!! EXPERIMENT!!! PLAY WITH IT UNTIL YOU GET IT TO WORK. -IF YOU OPEN UP VOLUME CONTROL . CLICK OPTIONS, THEN PROPERTIES. YOU'LL SEE YOUR MIXER DEVICE AKA: AUDIO DEVICE. YOU'LL SEE RECORDING AND PLAYBACK OPTIONS. HERE YOU CAN ENABLE WAVE OUT MIX (OR WHATEVER THE NAME MIGHT BE FOR YOUR SOUNDCARD). -HOW TO FIND VOLUME CONTROL. ON MY PC THERE ARE 3 WAYS : (1) CONTROL PANEL / SOUND,SPEECHES,AND AUDIO DEVICES / ADVANCE VOLUME CONTROLS. (2)ITS ON MY TASK BAR NEXT TO THE TIME.CLICK OR RIGHT CLICK TO OPEN IT UP. (3)START / ALLPROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / ENTERTAINMENT / VOLUME CONTROL. -NO SOUND AFTER FOLLOWING ALL THE STEPS IN THE VIDEO? IT COULD BE THAT YOUR AUDIO LEVEL ISN'T SET. CLICK THE SET AUDIO LEVEL BUTTON TO THE LEFT OF NARRATE TIMELINE BUTTON. YOU'LL SEE A SLIDER SCALE. ONE SIDE WILL SAY AUDIO FROM VIDEO. THE OTHER SIDE WILL SAY AUDIO/MUSIC. MOVE THE SLIDER ALL THE WAY TO AUDIO/MUSIC. CLOSE IT. NOW TRY IT. -MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS UP-TO DATE: WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER, DRIVERS, ETC. HERE IS THE LINK TO MICROSOFT'S SITE TO UPDATE WMM : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx -FINALLY HERE'S THE BEST ADVICE THAT I CAN GIVE YOU: PLAY WITH THE SETTINGS....... EXPERIMENT......... SEE WHAT HAPPENS. -IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.....I'LL TRY TO HELP THE BEST THAT I CAN. I'M NOT AN EXPERT. I USUALLY JUST "GOOGLE" THE QUESTION, AND SEE WHAT COMES UP. I SUGGEST YOU TRY THIS AS WELL. THIS IS HOW I LEARNED TO FIGURE THINGS OUT MYSELF OVER THE YEARS THAT I'VE HAD A PC. I HOPE THAT THESE TIPS HELP.     ok first of all great video and very discripted (rated 5) but i can get it on to the timeline and i did EVERYTHING you did and i cant hear anything, evan if i have "Wave Out Max" should i try all the other ones? but i only have one option for audio divice which is same as yours... please respond asap!

    Its a new feature of Youtube. Its called "annotations". After you upload your vid, click on "edit video annotations".From there you can add bubbles,spotlights,or notes. There are several vids about it on YT. I like it. It was very helpful to this video. Hope this answer your question. Good luck with it!

    I don't know what you're doing, but the info in the brackets shouldn't even be a factor. This video is about recording the sounds on you pc. Its like turning a tape recorder on and recording what you hear. WMM is recording what it hears coming from itunes as it plays a song. Thats all. No program to download. No file to import. Nothing to convert. No cd needed. Watch the vid. Read the comments. Read the tips. Follow the steps. It should work. Hope that helps. Good luck.

    omg i have been trying this for days and i cant evan import my itunes music it sais (My MusiciTunesiTunes MusicDisturbedInside the Fire - Single Inside the Fire.m4p is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.) so i cant evan add on to my movie maker... plz help me!!!

    Well.....I don't have enough information here to offer advice. All I can say is to read the tips in the description. And to read comments as well. Sometimes just playing around with your settings can get it working. It didn't work for me either at first. I had to adjust the settings a few times before I got it. Hope this helps.     Its hard for me to give advice for Vista since I don't have it. All I can tell you is to try the tips in the description. AND IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS TO PLEASE POST IT.
